In 2000, Jeremy Whipple began his Jackson County Sheriffs Office career as a Corrections Deputy. He transferred to the Patrol Division in 2001 and became a core skills instructor. In 2005, Jeremy earned a promotion to Sergeant and returned to the Corrections Bureau.
In 2006, Whipple returned to the Patrol Bureau as a Patrol Shift Sergeant. Over the next decade, he balanced his role as a front-line supervisor with ancillary responsibilities, which continued to expand. He developed the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team from the ground up to include creating policies, procuring equipment, creating training programs, and selection processes for team members. He supervised the FTO program, the Defensive Tactics Training Program, and acted as SWAT Team leader. He was known by those he supervised for his sound decision-making and leadership qualities, especially in critical incidents.
In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Lt. and led the patrol division until 2018, when he moved into a role of professional standards. He was responsible for training, personnel matters, and overseeing the criminal and civil records division, as well as concealed handgun licensing.
Lt. Whipple became a member of the Oregon State Sheriffs' Association advisory group, tasked with developing the training curriculum for Basic Tactical Operations School to train members from all 36 Oregon Sheriff’s Offices.
